Are We Conditioned to Creationism?
Teachers are the makers of nation. Only a teacher can nourish the wisdom instinct of an individual. Surprising but true, nearly 12.5% of teachers in the United States are in the state of teaching their pupils creationism as a great alternative to Darwin’s Evolution Theory. The striking statistics does not end here. Statistics reveal that only 13.7% classroom hours per annum are actually devoted by the teachers to take classes on general evolutionary processes.
Most of the teachers show their high reluctance about covering human evolution more than 5 hours per year and 17% of the total teacher does not include this topic in their curriculum at all. Ironically, 13% teachers does not bother about including the evolution chapter in their coursework at all and find the biology as a subject is much better without any presence of the chapter on Darwinism and Origin of Species.
More than 25% teachers devote their time to teach their students about intelligent design and creationism and 16% teachers convey the message to their students that God created lives on the surface of earth. The most wearisome fact is that nearly half of the general population believes in this theory. The study was conducted on the basis 939 randomly taken samples of U.S biology teachers by political researchers from Penn State during last spring.
